Rumi Room, the Persian and Indo-Pak restaurant from chef and co-owner Mamad Nafissi and partner Dr. Ali Haq, is leaving its original spot at Evora and officially opens in the former St. Felix space at The Bend, near Sunset and Durango, on Fri Oct 9. Nafissi calls it two restaurants in one, with a Persian menu on one side, an Indian-Pakistani menu on the other, and steaks and seafood if you want to mix and match. The preview menu ran from barg (thin-sliced, marinated, charbroiled filet mignon) and koobideh kabob to chicken tandoori, chicken tikka masala and goat karahi, with hummus, baba ghanoush and vegetable samosas to start. The kitchen uses only prime halal meats, and the bigger room at The Bend gives the restaurant more walk-in traffic and space for private events. The website lists hours of 11 a.m.–10 p.m. and takes pickup orders.
