J Gourmet Market, the Japanese grocery on Spring Mountain Road that used to be Japan Market Fukuya, celebrates its grand opening on Saturday, Oct 31, with a free live tuna-cutting show at 11 a.m. that runs about an hour. ChinatownVegas reports the first 100 people through the door get a ticket for free tuna sushi and sashimi, and that for that day only lean akami is $25 a pound (normally $45) and fatty chutoro is $35 a pound (normally $55), up to five pounds per person while it lasts. Spend $30 or more and you get a voucher for a free saku block of tuna (about a third of a pound) to pick up the same day. The market also has its own kitchen, and its Wagyu bowl is $24.99 instead of $29.99 through Oct 31. On grand opening day the store opens at 11 a.m. and closes at 8 p.m., and the kitchen serves until 6 p.m.
